Knocking Knuckles ... Says Who?

Have you ever sat down and asked yourself ... Why do I need to have my "Knocking Knuckles" aligned to hit a baseball? I didn't. If you have NEVER heard of such a thing, please leave this site immediately! However, if you have, please stick around and help millions of kids across America along with myself find an answer. I was unable to make the simplest adjustment away from "knocking knuckles" until I was 26 years old and on my last leg of pro ball. For some reason while hitting in the cages one off-season, my brother asked why I held the bat in an awkward way (Knocking Knuckels? I didn't recall why, nor where I was told to "Align my Knocking Knuckles when I hit," but it stuck and became habit. WOW was I WRONG! I'm not bitter, nor looking to place blame. I simply did what some coach had told me to do, because that's what they believed to be the correct way to hit. Well ... NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS! I've been giving lessons for quite a few years now and I have clients come to me daily and either tell me they have to have their knocking knuckles aligned or simply turn their hands in that manner before taking their first swing. It is the first thing I attempt to fix with each young hitter and has since become my mission to ask questions, get answers and DISPROVE the "Knocking Knuckles" philosophy.

Do you Know: Who came up with such a thing? When did it start? Where did it start? Why did it start? How does it help a hitter? I'm looking for answers and have set this site up to debate this outrageous hitting philosophy. Let's get some answers folks and in the mean time I'll use this site to prove to everyone in the world of baseball that "Knocking Knuckles" is O' SO WRONG!

I've heard of this my entire life. Had no idea I was being mislead. Who the heck keyed the term "Knocking Knuckles?"
